 Introducing EnviroBiometry Consulting Pty Ltd

EnviroBiometry Consulting Pty Ltd provides consulting services in the fields of biometry (statistical analysis for the biological sciences), ecology, environmental science and land management. EnviroBiometry is based in Townsville, Queensland, Australia.


Director and Principal, Dr Kerry Beggs, has more than 25 years' experience in the environment sector, and has a background in Australian terrestrial and freshwater ecology, environmental management, land management (weeds, fire, ferals) and education. Kerry has conducted monitoring programs assessing environmental impacts on native flora and fauna, in a variety of regions in Australia and has project managed comprehensive land management works across large sites in North Queensland since 2011. An accomplished science communicator and educator, Kerry has a substantial publication record (click here for more details), is an award-winning presenter, has several years' teaching experience in tertiary institutions, and holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Kerry has acquired her RePL in Feb 2018 (remote pilot licence for unmanned aerial vehicles UAVs or drones, up to 25kg). Services to be provided in the near future will include aerial survey and/or photography for land management assessments.

Biometry and statistical services

EnviroBiometry is highly experienced with a wide range of statistical analytical techniques for both univariate and multivariate analyses, including PERMANOVA. Specialist advice is available for all stages of monitoring programs, such as:
  • inception -  to provide recommendations on an experimental design best suited to study   objectives;
  • independent analysis or review of  existing datasets to test hypotheses and identify trends;
  • progressive analysis to inform  routine reporting (e.g. quarterly monitoring required for government regulators). 
Detailed results and interpretation are provided and  any output or formatting requirements for figures, tables or other graphical presentations, to facilitate the fast and easy compilation of reports, can be accommodated. 

Environmental Management

EnviroBiometry offers the following environmental management services:
  • environmental project management (particularly land management, such as weed mapping, monitoring and control; planned burns; feral animal monitoring and management);
  • preparation of Environmental Management Plans;
  • development or assistance with all aspects of implementation of Environmental Management Systems (certified to ISO 14001), including environmental risk assessments,  auditing, incident investigation and reporting, training and inductions, sustainability reporting (energy/water/waste analysis);
  • independent report reviews, scientific report preparation, science communication and delivery of educational information.

Environmental Awareness Training

  • development and delivery of environmental awareness training material (Certified Trainer and Assessor), including pollution prevention, practical spill response, weed identification, sustainability in the workplace;
  • training can be customised to meet clients' specific requirements.

Coming soon.... Sustainability Professional Development for teachers​ - how to bring sustainability and environmental education into the classroom. EnviroBiometry plans to offer a face-to-face, one day workshop (delivered in Townsville) that will include key sustainability concepts, links to Australian (QLD) curriculum, practical activities to inspire and educate young learners, and further resources for participants to take with them.

Sustainability Advice and Assessments

  • assessment of business practices and advice for improvements relating to energy and water consumption, waste production, and 'green' procurement.

Ecological Field Assessments and GIS / Spatial Analysis Services

  • EnviroBiometry works closely with specialist field ecologists in QLD and the NT, Australia, and can arrange Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) or Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), and ecological field surveys of flora and fauna (including freshwater, estuarine and mangrove communities).
  • Kerry has AUSRIVAS accreditation and can undertake environmental assessments of freshwater systems, such as those required for Receiving Environmental Monitoring Programs (REMPs). Assessments typically involve in-situ physical, chemical and habitat assessment in the field, water quality sampling, laboratory analyses (using NATA accredited laboratories), and macroinvertebrate survey, identification and analyses (e.g. running AUSRIVAS predictive models).
  • GIS services (mapping and spatial analysis) can also be provided.
